Withings Body Cardio Scale Looks after Your Health

Withings body cardio scale looks after your health. This new ambitious product aims to keep you informed of not only weight and body composition, but heart health as well. But you might want to begin saving up to afford it.

The smart Body Cardio scale by Withings is the first to measure heart health, giving it a leg up on competitors. It measures Pulse Wave Velocity (PWV) – a key indicator of cardiovascular health, which translates in arterial stiffness. Arterial stiffness is an indicator for high blood pressure, stroke, or heart attack risks. Pulse Wave Velocity is usually measured in a clinical environment, but with the help of the Body Cardio scale, you can now get informed from the comfort of your home.

Based on the user’s age and the time it takes for the blood to flow from the aorta to the vessels in the feet, the scale will compute the PWV. And you get a clear indication if your PWV is normal, optimal or at risk. This is said to take as little as 15 seconds from start to finish.

This intelligent scale is equipped with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, and will automatically upload the information to the cloud.

In addition to Pulse Wave Velocity (PWV), Withings Body Cardio scale looks after your health by measuring:

  • Body Mass Index (BMI)
  • Body Fat Percentage
  • Bone Mass
  • Muscle Mass
  • Standing Heart Rate
  • Total Body Water Percentage
  • Weight

If planning on using the Body Cardio, consider getting the Health Mate app available on both Android and iOS. This Health app provides graphs, step count, weight trend, and more. It will coach you on how to improve your wellbeing and keep your heart health on track. Health Mate is free, and your Body Cardio data will sync with the app automatically.

Let’s talk numbers. As you might’ve expected, it is not a cheap scale. But you don’t put a price on health either, do you? The Body Cardio scale can be purchased on Withings website or from Apple stores. Expect to see it at more retailers in the summer of 2016. It comes at $180 (that’s about £120, or AU$240). You can also opt for a model that doesn’t include PWV measurements – Withings Body costs $130 (that’s about £90, or AU$175).
